Park Commission


The purpose of the Park Commission is to help preserve, maintain and improve the park by:

  • Coordinating fundraising efforts;
  • Prioritizing improvements;
  • Making recommendations to the City Council regarding maintenance, capital improvements, and other matters regarding park operations; and
  • Making recommendations to the City Council regarding lease agreements and policies for commercial use of the park. 

Meetings

The Park Commission meets on the second Tuesday of the Month at 12:00 p.m. at City’s Council chambers.


Membership

The Park Commission consists of seven members who are residents of the city, appointed by the City Council.  Each member of the Commission shall serve a two-year term, commencing on January 1 and ending December 31 of the following year, except that, upon expiration of their terms, members of the commission shall continue to serve until their successors are appointed and qualified.

Selection Process

Nominations to boards and commissions, unless otherwise provided by the Code of Ordinances, shall be made by the Council members. The City Council shall confirm nominations for appointment to the board or commission in order for an appointment to be effective.
