Chief of Police
Description
The City of Rollingwood is seeking its next Chief of Police, who will lead a department of highly-respected police officers, in a community that supports and engages with its public safety personnel. The Chief will perform a variety of complex administrative, supervisory and professional work and will be responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing the budget of the department. The Chief of Police reports to the City Administrator, and is responsible to the Mayor, City Council and citizens for all functions of the police department. The Chief exercises supervision over all police department staff directly or through subordinate supervisors and enacts and enforces the rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the department. The Chief is the Executive Officer for the police department and is responsible under law for the fair and impartial enforcement of the United States and Texas Constitutions, state and federal statutes and
regulations and the ordinances of the city, in conformance with current case law interpreting same.
Preferred Education & Experience
1. Experience in a department and community similarly sized to Rollingwood who understands team-work and full-service requirements of personnel in small departments.
2. Experience working with the public and media is preferred.
3. Graduation from a leadership command college is preferred but not required (i.e. FBI-NS, LEMIT, Etc.)
4. Demonstrated ability to foster future leaders is also preferred.
5. Commitment to ongoing implicit bias training.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
1. Valid driver's license.
2. Acceptable results of all applicable background and employment screening checks including physical exam, psychological evaluation, and drug screening and no convictions of a criminal offense above a Class C misdemeanor.
3. Must have received an honorable discharge if served in the Military.
